Kittens in the office

The Kittens are now in a kennel in our office. Aside from some roundworms, they got a clean bill of health. Once their meds kick in, they can meet Buddy and Sammy!

Still haven’t caught the mother yet.  Here are better photos:

SO CUTE!

Kittens on the porch

Rick and I found a mother cat and her three babies living in the bushes by our apartment.  So, being the sucker that I am, we started feeding them while I made arrangements to have them trapped so I could find them homes.

Now they live in our bathroom – except the mother cat…she’s too smart.

Here are a couple photos of them before we caught them. Once they get over being terrified, I’ll take some more photos.

A day in the park

This past weekends was Huntsville’s annual Panoply arts festival at Big Spring Park.  Rick and I went and saw the sights, and I got to take some pictures of the park.

Decoupage Frame

I found my camera!  Here is a picture of the finished decoupage frame. I also just created an Etsy store and put it up for sale.  More to come!

Fun with glue

Last week Rick and I picked some flowers to press.  Now that they are nicely dried and flat, I am using them in some decoupage projects.  I just finished a decoupage frame and waiting for it to dry. I am now working on making a couple of candle holders.  When everything is done I’ll put up some pictures.

Shadow Box

I made another shadow box today for a wedding gift.  Michaels had these really pretty ones on sale that had a second pane of glass as the backdrop, instead of a matte or velcro board so the finished piece looks like it’s floating.  Below is the finished product (forgive the poor image quality – I have temporarily misplaced my camera and had to take this photo with my phone.)

Shadow Box

I was so happy with the finished product, that I went back to Michaels to buy the rest of the shadow boxes that were left.  At $7.99 a piece – and with the amount of shadow boxes that I make in a year – I figured it was a good investment.

I am currently pressing some flowers that Rick and I picked today (have to find a use for that Yellowbook somehow!)  Plans for pressed flowers include:

  • 5×7 decoupage frame
  • coordinating decoupage candle holders
  • notecards

More to come…especially once my flowers are ready and/or I find my camera (whichever comes first…hopefully the camera.)

Arts & Crafts

I’ve accumulated some photos of crafts I’ve done recently, so I thought I ought to post some of them up.  You’ll have to forgive the image quality on some of them…the flash reflects too much off the shiny surfaces, but without the flash they come out blurry.  I now have a gorillapod, so that will be fixed in the future.

Rick bought me a craft table for Christmas, and I’ve already taken it over with all of my crap…so I”m sure more photos will come soon!

Look how cute!

Buddy and Sammy

Just wanted to share this cute photo that Rick took of the cats.  For those of you who don’t know them, the little Siamese one (well, Showshoe-Siamese really) is Sammy and the Tuxedo is Buddy.  We bought two beds so they could each have one, and instead they curl up together

They make such a great pair!

Updated Christmas List

Well after Thanksgiving/Early Christmas I had to make a few changes to me and Rick’s Christmas List, so please check out the Christmas page to see the updates.

Now I’m off to replenish my empty refrigerator and pantry!

Salsa

So, I promised Rick I would make tacos yesterday – which is something we do every once in a while as a special treat.  When I came home from work, I immediately made the dough for the tortillas, which has to sit for an hour before you roll it out and fry it.  During this time, Rick went to the gym and I was bored.  I decided that in that extra spanse of time I would try something new.

So I made salsa.

The recipe I found was actually pretty easy.  And since my camera is finally good and charged, I took some pictures of the process.  First, you need a tomato.  The recipe said to use two medium sized tomatoes, but I wanted mine to be less tomato-heavy so I used one large one instead.

Big, Fat Tomato!

Now, I have one of those Slap Chop gadgets (the cheap knock-off, not the cool one they have As Seen On TV) that I used to slice everything for this salsa.

Chopped, big, fat tomato.

Now, there’s no point in me explaining the entire process here…its pretty easy.  You chop all the ingredients (except the lime) and mix them together.  I used the aforementioned tomato, 1/3 of a red onion, juice of one lime, one jalepeño, one serrano peppers, garlic, and fresh cilantro.

And here is the final product:

Now, the irony is…I couldn’t taste-test it to see if it turned out well. I hate tomatoes. And onions.  And jalepños.  But, Rick said it was good, and he usually tells me if its not, so I guess I did well.
